The Mississippi Conference on Social Welfare is a proponent of academic excellence as evidenced by its scholarships awarded to students attending Jackson State University, the University of Mississippi, Mississippi Valley State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. MCSW is preparing to award scholarships of five hundred dollars ($500) to students pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work who have demonstrated excellence in achievement, leadership, and service.

What requirements are necessary to apply?

  • Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.

  • Must be enrolled as a 2nd-year Graduate student in the field of Social Work (Advanced Standing students will be considered as 2nd-year students).

What else is needed?

  • The applicant and applicant’s academic advisor’s signatures are required on the form.

What will the judges look for in the application? 

  • Advisor’s recommendation & verification of Grade Point Average

  • Neatness and correctness of the application

  • Leadership and service

  • Grade Point Average and current standing in the program

When is my application due?

  • The above information should be submitted to the Mississippi Conference on Social Welfare no later than 5 p.m. (CST), on July 1, 2020.
